Riverside Cottage is a period self catering holiday property overlooking the River Coquet. Built by the Duke of Northumberland around 1895, it is set in the attractive Village of West Thirston in the heart of rural Northumberland.  The County of Northumberland in the North-East of England is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage has been lovingly renovated to a high standard whilst keeping all its original character.


This lovely period Cottage is situated in an idyllic rural village and offers views over the River Coquet, perfect for a relaxing, enjoyable stay. 
Just yards from the front door is the riverbank, with miles of beautiful riverside walks leading into the stunning countryside.

Our two bedroom Cottage offers excellent accommodation for four people, with one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, comfortable lounge with open fireplace, dining room, modern kitchen and bathroom, downstairs toilet, outside seating area with BBQ facilities, gas central heating and high  speed wireless internet access. Families are welcome to stay and so are members of your extended family... the pets!


A range of amenities including local shops, post office, café, bakery, and a charming country pub with restaurant are all within easy walking distance of the property. There are numerous local tourist attractions, riverside walks and scenic countryside within the immediate vicinity
Don't forget to bring some bread along to feed the ducks by the river!
Riverside Cottage is the ideal base to explore all that Northumberland has to offer, from it's famous castles and award-winning beaches to walks, cycling, golf, water sports and fishing or one of the county's many attractions

Accessible from the North and South of the Country via the A1, between two and a half to three hours drive from the Midlands and approx 25 miles north of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. The nearest train station is Morpeth, 9 miles south of West Thirston. The village is served by frequent public transport. Click here for more information about how to find us.
